PHOTOGRAPHY FOR ARTISTS: JOBAN GILL AT THE MINORIES

Joban Gill is a mixed-media artist creating narrative works of art through layering images and mediums. Her work focusses on the human form but the environments she creates for them are always evolving. In September Joban’s solo exhibition ‘It’s All a Blur’ at The Minories in Colchester invited viewers into a space where memories lived as layered impressions shaped by time, emotion and desire, navigating the complex terrain of remembering, forgetting and everything in between.

Joban asked me to photograph the exhibition and it was wonderful to capture her stunning work so beautifully installed in The Minories’ unique gallery spaces, filled with warm, end-of-summer light.

You can see some of the photographs below, but I encourage you to visit Joban’s website to see more of her work and to find out more about her practice.
