Easter came and went and to be honest the whole month seems to have totally flown by. We've been able to have garden meet-ups again here in the UK, which has been really, really lovely. I've kept up the walking, new recipes each week and trying to take more photos just for fun and my own interest.
I looked at a lot of blossom in April. Well, blossom and food (of course). I have been photographing and thinking a lot about flowers/plants and what/who they remind me of and last week I shared a story about what I think about whenever I see gorse.
In the zine are photographs of a few flowers I have enjoyed, quite an interesting selection of gutter finds, an excellent takeaway from Aburi in Colchester, a tiger loaf I made myself, an interesting sign near where I got my hair cut (the joy!!), a great slice of cake and cup of fruity tea from Tymperleys in Colchester (more joy!!), and an afternoon spent trying to fix my Mamiya RB67 (awaiting prints to see whether or not that was successful).
Things I've enjoyed in April:
Food: New recipe of the week continued and I made Cubed Tofu and Broccoli with Miso and Kochujang (gochujang) which was really nice and an excellent standby meal for week nights; peach cobbler when I panicked that I hadn't made a new recipe and wanted something Sunday pudding-ish with what I had in the cupboard; a tiger loaf (shown in the zine) that I was over the moon with; wholemeal mixed seed bread that was described as 'healthy' but was also super tasty and lemon custard cake that was utterly delicious and looked pretty good too (though I did have to have 2 goes at the custard as I've never made it before)
TV & films: We finished watching Kim's Convenience on Netflix and really loved and highly recommend it. We watched WandaVision which was great but some of the references were a bit lost on us as we hadn't watched all the Marvel films, so we're working through them in timeline order (thanks o2 for 6 months free Disney+), I've wanted to watch Sound of Metal for ages and it was excellent - so well done. I also really enjoyed Palm Springs.
Reading: I finally finished The Great Gatsby, which I've been carrying around the house for ages meaning to read. April's Stack Magazine was Hamam and it was all about bathing (a favourite activity of mine) and I particularly enjoyed reading about Japan’s Sentō and Russia’s Seleznyovsky Baths.
