A Tearsheet Update

January 25, 2021  •  Leave a Comment

I've taken a bit of time recently to make a few updates to my website. It's that classic scenario - I get so busy doing the day-to-day work that I neglect doing the work on the business itself, including my website, which is the showcase for the business. So here I am with the inevitable January update! I'm quietly working through archive images to make a nice image bank people can search through, which is a bit of a longer project, but most recently I concentrated on setting up a proper tearsheet page again.

Most of my clients are organisations - museums, galleries and businesses - for whom I carry out a photography session and supply a gallery of images that can be used in many different ways. They're usually used for publicity, promotion and reporting, for example if they've received a grant for a particular project and need images to show the project in action. It's a nice way of working for me, as often the shoot days are filled with lots of variety and creative challenges, and it works well for my clients too, as they get a library of images they can get a lot of use from.

In my new tearsheet page I've included a few examples of how these organisations use these images, online or in print, when I find them. Some are for social media, illustrating newsletters, part of the visual identity of a website, like for Contemporary Applied Arts, some give their visitors an idea of what they can expect to see when they visit, like Firstsite. Gunnersbury Park and Museum use images on their website but also in their printed What's On guides. When I shoot the RHS Chelsea Flower Show for The English Garden Magazine it's primarily for the online coverage but every now and then they are used in the magazine too. There's still something very special about seeing your work in print!

I'll endeavour to keep it updated as new features go live, to promote the work that I and my lovely clients are doing and also hopefully to provide a bit of inspiration on how you can use photographs for your own promotion.
