House of Garrod was founded in 2013 by Beverley Garrod, a bespoke interior and furniture designer based in rural Essex. We first met a few years back through the Chelmsford Business Breakfast Club and I photographed her incredible home workspace in a converted barn as part of my Home/Work project a little while back. Since then we’ve worked together on a number of occasions, and I’m pleased to be able to share some of these more recent images now that Beverley has had a feature about her and her work published in Essex Life magazine.
It’s a lovely, five page feature written by Lindsey Furby, illustrated with photographs I created with Beverley and with marketing support from Sam Groeber. Highlighting Beverley’s expertise and advice in interior design, we visited one of Beverley’s client’s homes to photograph the stunning room she put together, making details including the Roman blinds, reupholstered heirloom wingback chair and advising on the feature wallpaper. There’s also a look at her truly unique Story Chairs, bespoke chairs illustrated with the specific interests of each individual client.
The piece also touches on one of House of Garrod’s high-profile commissions, the creation of six ceremonial cloaks for the Cambridge University Constables. These were “made using traditional techniques and crafted to reflect the heritage and significance of their role”, and I felt privileged to have had a glimpse of this incredibly intricate process when photographing Beverley working on them.
It’s always so lovely to work with Beverley on her creative projects, and to capture such unique, skilled craft in process. It’s also such a joy to see photographs in print!
Grab a copy of the April 2026 edition of Essex Life (on sale now!) to read the full feature and visit Beverley’s House of Garrod website and Instagram to see more of her work.
I’m a photographer working with artists, arts organisations and charities to document their work and take promotional photographs for press and marketing. If you’d like to have a chat about commissioning me to work with you please get in touch by email here.
